Students N 2 Sinabang, Simeulue Island, Aceh, managed to
modify a motorcycle fired water. Only one liter of water, the motor is claimed
to be a distance of 700 kilometers.
Nanda is Alavanta along with his classmates at the
Automotive Engineering Department of SMK 2 Sinabang initiative designing a
motor fuel is water. "After a month of time to make this. From penilitian
to erencangnya process," Nanda story told on the sidelines of the
exhibition Okezone Education day (Hardikda) Aceh to 56 recently.
Motor fuel efficient and environmentally friendly it was first exhibited Nanda and his team in the Education Expo which runs until September 18. This motor also attracted many visitors.
Nanda admitted that he had tested the resistance of the motor makes. According to him, with a liter of pure water, the motor is capable of running up to 700 km at normal speed.
"Already we test around the island (Simeulue), Alhamdulillah okay. The important note is the condition of the battery and kipronya should be okay. If not then the course could be hampered," said the student of Class II.
The idea of making this water fuel arises from the desire Nanda with her friends at school. "We want no change in the school," he said.
After discussing with a teacher, Wendi Sebastian, they agreed to create a water-fueled engine. Honda Win 100 battered in the automotive laboratory school made the object of an experiment.
The material is simple. Heat-resistant plastic bottles filled with water pure, then connected to the combustion cylinder using stainless steel tubing. Two battery cable from the battery is also connected to the bottle.
To be able to run the engine and the battery must be in-charge of water first. The way is to turn on the motor, and let the first machine interrupts. If the hard life needs to be lured with a few drops of gasoline. The charging process is required to separate the sulfur or lime from the water zar battery with elements of hydrogen and oxygen is in the water.
Battery power and the power supply need to be considered. If the power supply is good, then the sulfur will stick by itself in stainless steel and does not fit into the cylinder. Furthermore, hydrogen is a highly flammable compound, and oxygen are also separated.
According to Wendi Sebastian, N 2 Sinabang teacher who accompanied the students to make the motor fuel of water, the separation of hydrogen and oxygen can cause an explosion if ignited the fire.
"That is what is used for combustion," he said.
Wendi said, charging the battery you should use wet. Because, in each charging takes 5 amperes and the battery will heat and evaporate.
"If the water evaporates reduced, battery wet we can fill it again. If dry batteries are not," he said.
To make this innovation they spent approximately Rp1 million. All are paid Chief N 2 Sinabang, Safdar SR.
"The material was not up to 400 thousand, but for his research that many consumables costs," said Wendi.
For example, said Wendi, trial separating the hydrogen, oxygen and sulfur failed seven times. "But still we try to succeed," he said.
Wendi rate, the motor fuel of this water could be an alternative in the future, especially for people living on the island of Simeulue. "Here the price of fuel is expensive, so perhaps this could be a solution," he said.
For the first phase, he added, the motor fuel of this water will be cultivated in the vocational school. Some students, including Nanda had intended to modify the bike in order to use water as fuel.
"If successful we will be ready later asked to help others who need this bike," he said.
