Utilizing Wind and Water High school students have Create Power

Two students of SMAN 2 Semarang origin creates a power plant and a wind energy menanfaatkan release vortex or rotating water flow.

Zufar and Fa'iq Ihsan Maulana Amanullah Utomo to name these findings with Winner Voice (Vortex Induced Wind Energy and Energy). His invention into the category Finalists National Young Inventors Award (waste their) 8th 2015 organized by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI).

According Fa'iq "This tool is about the power plants that take wind energy and release vortex. In one device there are two things that can be extracted from the two different elements of water and wind," he said while talking to AFP.

There are some parts in the tool is the first confounders (diffuser) is made of aluminum which has a relatively light load, rustproof and malleable. Both propellers of fiber glass which has good strength and durable and malleable. The third pillar is made of stainless steel which have strength and great durability, resistance to water and cause corrosion. Fourth neomydium magnet type magnet (Nd2Fe14B) the strongest levels durable magnet. This tool is enabled to be installed in the middle of the sea and make use of seawater.

"We take advantage of the current, can be installed in the sea or a river. Over there it flows able to produce vortex flow pattern for which a resulting water and air driven by the corresponding circle and it can be used to generate electricity," said Fa'iq.

"How it works is that there are currents prevented each cylinder is horizontal it can form a whirlpool or vortex the top and bottom. The vortex-shaped alternately up and down and up and down that we connect to the connecting rod is connected to a generator, the stem of aluminum to resist because in the sea, from the generator to generate electricity that can be used for the needs of citizens, "he added.

According Fa'iq wind energy use and environmentally friendly disposal of this vortex and included in the category of renewable energy resources (renewable). So that its benefits will be felt in the long term. Fa'iq and Zufar also want to say that the vortex is not only considered as a negative thing that can ruin but also can be useful.

"During this vortex was considered damaging so we wanted to make this vortex could have a function to drive a generator and produce electricity," he said.

In the exhibition at LIPI some time ago, Fa'iq and Zufar mockups findings only show that it takes 3-4 months. He does not display the original shape due to make electricity generation costs a very large number of expert technicians.

"We still need help because the study is still not widely known pioneer and still need help for the development of further tools but it also requires supervising research related to technical calculations," he said.  (detik)
