A new breakthrough came from a number of scientists Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, succeeded in making paving block (concrete blocks) for roads and sidewalks that can absorb air pollution. The discovery, published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials Paving blocks, which will cut air pollution by 45 percent.

This technology has been tested at a road block in the city Hengalo, Netherlands. Installation of this technology also does not require any special equipment, in addition to paving materials that have been sprayed titanium oxide layer. This material is able to absorb and remove pollutants from the air to then turn them into harmless substances.

Nitrogen oxides (NOx) is a general term mono-nitrogen oxides NO and NO2 (nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide). This substance is a kind of toxic gas that is produced from the reaction of nitrogen and oxygen during the combustion process in the engine motor vehicle. This causes the level of pollutant nitrogen oxides in the big cities are crowded vehicles, very high. Gas is also involved in the creation of acid rain and tropospheric ozone. (Viva| Huffingtonpost)
