Scientists at Bristol University and Oxfam, managed to
create the recycling of urine into electrical energy. Tiolet shaped tool
harnessing the technology of microbial fuel cell (MFC).
According to the creator, professor Ioannis Ieropoulos,
MFC technology using urine-eating bacteria to produce electricity. Bacteria
were going to consume urine and produce energy in the form of electricity.
Then, the electricity generated is stored in special batteries.
"MFC-consuming work with urine, it is necessary for
the growth of bacteria in them. These technologies include environmentally
friendly technology that does not require fuel or generating hazardous waste
materials," said professor Ieropoulos, Daily Mail (05/03).
Going forward, the toilet can see the electricity stored
in a toilet through a simple monitor. In fact, the user could later charge the
smartphone directly at the toilet.
And because it uses pee, this technology can continue to
be used as long as there are people who need to go to the toilet. As a result,
many scientists are calling this is a perennial electricity-generating
technology.
MFC technology is very cheap. It takes only Rp 20
thousand to make the MFC small scale that can be applied in various toilets in
the whole world.
